2,200 volunteers gather for 10th annual Serve Day across the Gulf Coast

Church of the King mobilizes Serve teams to complete 135 service projects

NEW ORLEANS – On Saturday, May 4, more than 2,200 volunteers will participate in Church of the King’s 10th annual Serve Day as part of a worldwide day of service where teams of volunteers give back to communities across the globe.

Serve teams will disperse throughout Church of the King’s six locations along the Gulf Coast to complete 135 service projects, including building homes with Habitat for Humanity, serving meals at local food banks and justice centers, completing school beautification projects, volunteering at the Department of Children and Family Services and more.

“Each year on Serve Day our church impacts our communities in a powerful way through many different clean up and compassion projects,” said Senior pastor Steve Robinson. “This event is a moment to serve together and create opportunities to continue serving after Serve Day.”

For the last 10 years, Church of the King’s Serve Day has impacted tens of thousands of lives throughout communities in Mandeville, Covington, Slidell, Baton Rouge, Kenner, Bay St. Louis, Biloxi and Peachtree City, GA. In 2023, 1,576 volunteers completed 86 projects, beautified 20 schools and served 2,600 meals.

“The Church of the King family seeks to add value to others’ lives without asking for anything in return. Through simple acts of selfless love, we can make a difference,” continued Robinson.

Founded in 1999 with the mission of reaching people and building lives, Church of the King has built its foundation on encouraging its members to add value to the lives of their neighbors, friends and family by humbling serving them.
