Series content is replacing random posts

If you manage social media for your business, you’ve probably wondered what actually gets people to follow and engage with your content. Marketing experts say one of the biggest trends right now is moving away from random posts and instead creating ongoing series that audiences can look forward to.

A content series is exactly what it sounds like, instead of posting randomly, businesses create a recurring theme or segment they post regularly. Think of it like a mini show on your social media. For example, a business might do “Meet the Team Monday,” “Behind the Business,” or “Local Spotlight Friday.” When followers know what to expect, they’re more likely to watch, engage and come back for the next post.

Social media algorithms are rewarding consistency. Platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok tend to promote accounts that post predictable formats that audiences interact with regularly. It’s similar to television, people follow shows they enjoy and come back each week. Businesses that create series content are tapping into that same behavior online.

There are a lot of creative ways to do this. Some popular ideas include “Monday Marketing Tips,” where businesses share helpful advice each week. Another is “Behind the Business,” where you show how products are made or what happens behind the scenes. “Meet the Team” posts are also great because audiences like seeing people behind the brand. And a “Local Spotlight Friday” can highlight other businesses or community partners.

The biggest benefit of this style of content is that it builds familiarity and trust. When people see a consistent series, they begin to recognize your content and associate your business with something valuable or interesting. Over time, that helps grow your audience and keeps your brand top of mind.

If you’re looking at starting series content, here are some things to consider. Start simple. Think about something your business knows well or something customers are always curious about. Then turn that into a weekly feature. It’s doesn’t have to be complicated, they key is consistency. Once people start recognizing the series, it becomes something they look forward to.
