Hospitality Education Foundation to Award Scholarships to Students in the New Orleans Area
Aid will help local high school students pursue a career in the hospitality and tourism industry
New Orleans, LA (January 30, 2019) – The Greater New Orleans Hotel & Lodging Association (GNOHLA) Hospitality Education Foundation has opened applications for scholarships it will award to two area high school students interested in a career in the hospitality industry. The recipients will each receive up to $8,000 towards a higher education hospitality degree at the University of New Orleans or Delgado Community College.
“We’re excited to be able to provide financial aid to students in the Greater New Orleans area who are interested in a rewarding career in hospitality,” says Mavis Early, executive director of the GNOHLA Hospitality Education Foundation. “Through this opportunity, we are developing leaders from within our community while offering limitless career pathways to students.”
To qualify for the scholarship, students must have an overall cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 and must enroll to study hospitality at either the University of New Orleans or Delgado Community College. Applicants must be enrolled in a high school in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, St. Charles, St. James, Iberville, Tangipahoa or St. John the Baptist Parish. In their application, students must demonstrate a positive attitude, teamwork and effective communication skills in either a paid or volunteer position, at school, work or community. Applications are due Tuesday, April 30, 2019.
